Hi! Wasn't really good at figuring out how to join (didn't see the message about the login names or this message board until later, etc.) I also took a look at the Calendar and there aren't any activities coming up! So I will just introduce myself :-)
I'm Jennifer R. and I have two girls, ages 4 and 3 (almost 5 and 4). I am seriously considering homeschooling, but I am in need of support, ideas and advice -- and a group to get together with! I've looked at the Sonlight curriculum and I like it a lot, because it seems like it would make things easy on a newcomer to Homeschooling... however it's quite expensive! Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, I am wondering about how to make sure my girls get together with other children their age on a regular basis; field trips, get togethers, things like that.
Thanks so much! Jennifer

Hi Jennifer! I don't think the group hasn't been too active lately. My kids are almost 11 & 13yo. There are many people with younger children. I hope someone sees your post and responds with some good info. I didn't officially homeschool at that age. I'll try to contact someone who may be able to give you better info & or advice. I fell into homeschooling when my kids hated school and it's been wonderful. Sheila (did this on quick reply--out of room!)

Hi Jennifer, I have 4 children.. ages 12, 7, 6, and 3 1/2. I'm in the highlands ranch area. I also like the sonlight, and yes it's expensive. But for the younger beginning ages up to grade 2.. I LOVE the hooked on phonics books (curriculum books), and of course the reading. And the curriculum books are about $12.. and to get the kids started, it's very very nice and not pricy either. The reading program is pricy, but worth every penny. My 7 yr old is disabled, severe TBI, and should be in 1st grade till the end of June (as we have year round schools in our district). But he is reading at the 4th grade level and doing the end of 2nd grade and parts of 3rd grade in everything else. Would love to talk more about different things that may also work out.
